Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has alleged that the BNP is getting angry as Bangladesh is advancing in every socio-economic index.

He made the allegation during a briefing at his office in the Secretariat on Monday (September 6th).

Regarding the claim of the party leaders that a stable overall economy has been successfully implemented during the BNP rule, Obaidul Quader said, "It is not true at all. Their demand is as untrue and meaningless as other statements." During the BNP rule, there was extreme stagnation in economic development. The budget was dependent, there was no capacity to implement.

He said the BNP's development policy and strategy was wrong and anti-people. The BNP was the main driving force behind the power system. There was 10 to 12 hours of load shedding daily. The BNP's arrogance is bound to be crushed only by comparison with the power sector.

Questioning the BNP leaders, the Awami League general secretary said, "They must not have forgotten that farmers had to give their lives for fertilizer in their time." Is this an example of stability? Bangladesh has turned around today under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh today is a wonder of the world economy.

He said a record amount of foreign exchange reserves of over ৮ 46 billion has been earned due to the development-friendly policies and strategies of the Sheikh Hasina government. At present, the per capita income has risen to ২ 2,228.

The top Awami League leader said the progress made in every indicator including continuous increase in revenue, enviable expatriate income, export income, employment, reduction of poverty and extreme poverty, increase in domestic and foreign investment, inflation control has paved the way for stability and sustainable development of macroeconomic economy. . Bangladesh is also improving the global competitiveness index and human development index.

Obaidul Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has raised the country from the economic dark hole to the ladder of prosperity. Under his leadership, Bangladesh today is inaugurated as a developing economy. Competing with the richest countries of the world, Bangladesh is ranked first in hilsa production and second in outsourcing, second in readymade garment exports, 7th in expatriate income, 4th in rice production, first in jute export and second in production, third in freshwater fish production.

He said the BNP wants to see the country dependent and on its knees. Wants to be a servant. The Awami League wants to elevate the country to a dignified and prosperous position. BNP leaders spoke of corruption, while their rule was the most corrupt period in the history of Bangladesh.

Quader said the BNP's tenure was a haven for corruption. That is why Bangladesh became the world champion in corruption five times in a row. Today, the BNP leaders said many delicious things. However, according to various media reports during their time, the money smuggled by Tareq Rahman was seized by the US Department of Justice.

He said, today BNP leaders spoke against corruption! The Sheikh Hasina government has already made clear its tough stance against corruption. Can Mr. Fakhrul show an example of taking action against any party leader or activist for corruption during the BNP rule?
