JU Vice Chancellor mourns the death of Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan

JU Correspondent: Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of Jagannath University Prof. Dr. Shamsuzzaman Khan, President of Bangla Academy. Kamaluddin Ahmed has expressed deep grief. The condolence message was issued on Wednesday (April 14th) through a press release from the Public Relations, Information and Publications Department of Jagannath University.

The condolence message said that Jagannath University family wishes peace to the departed soul and pays deep respects to his bereaved family.

Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan breathed his last on Wednesday (April 14, 2021) at 2.30 pm while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital. Rajyun). Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, President of Bangla Academy, was 80 years old. He was the director general of the academy for a long time.

Former teacher Shamsuzzaman Khan was awarded the Independence Medal and the Ekushey Medal. He also holds the Bangla Academy Award. He started his career as a teacher after completing his education from Dhaka University.

He has taught at Munshiganj Horganga College, Jagannath College, Mymensingh Agricultural University and National University. In 2009 he became the Director General of Bangla Academy. He was in that post for three terms till 2016. He was later made the president of the academy. In 2001, he received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in recognition of his literary work.

After receiving the Ekush Padak in 2009, he received the highest state honor, the Independence Award in 2016. It may be mentioned that Jagannath University Press Club, an organization of progressive journalists of the university, expressed its grief over his death.
