Four Ansar members injured while stopping commotion at SZMC Hospital in Bogura; four detained

Bogura Representative: Four Ansar members were injured while trying to stop a commotion at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital in Bogura. Police have detained four individuals for their alleged involvement in the attack.

The incident took place in front of the hospital's emergency department around 10:30 PM on Wednesday (September 16). The injured are Ansar members Shahinur, Mostafizur Rahman, Anwar Hossain, and Azad. They are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Those detained are Borhan Uddin (18), Tanvir Ahmed (17), Samir Ahmed (18), and Rishad (17). Police informed that they are higher secondary students from Bogura Government Azizul Haque College and Bogura Cantonment Public School and College.

According to hospital sources, a young man was injured in a motorcycle accident in the Bou Bazar area of Bogura city on Wednesday night. Later, his friends rescued him and brought him to SZMC Hospital. An argument broke out between the young man's friends and Nahid, a trolley puller on duty there. At one point, 6 to 7 people started beating Nahid. When Ansar members on emergency duty stepped in to control the situation, they were also attacked. Four Ansar members were injured as a result. Ansar authorities claimed that they were stabbed. Later, police and additional Ansar members arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Four individuals were detained at the time, though police said several others involved in the attack fled.

Golam Maula Tuhin, District Commandant of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Bogura, stated that four Ansar members were injured while trying to stop the commotion. They were stabbed. Their conditions are out of danger. Legal action will be taken regarding this incident.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bogura Detective Branch Iqbal Bahar said it has not been confirmed yet whether knives were used in the attack. However, the Ansar members were assaulted and injured. Four people involved in the incident have been detained, and they are currently being interrogated.
