Sports Desk: From the very start, Pakistan’s bowlers had Bangladesh’s batters in trouble. Losing three consecutive wickets early, Bangladesh found themselves in a difficult position. At that moment, thunder was seen in the sky over Mirpur, and rain began almost immediately, suspending the game.
When play was halted, Bangladesh had scored 27/3 in 6.3 overs, with Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy at the crease.
Earlier, in the first innings, Pakistan had been bowled out for 274 runs before completing their scheduled overs, having lost seven wickets in the last 43 runs.
The two openers had given a brilliant start, appearing to be in top form. However, after an impressive 75 runs off 46 balls, the Tiger captain Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Muz Sadaqat. Another opener, Sahibzada Farhan, was later taken by pacer Taskin Ahmed.
Pakistan then lost three wickets in quick succession within 19 runs, losing some momentum. Yet, Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha steadied the innings. Their 109-run partnership raised hopes of a big total for Pakistani supporters.
However, under pressure from the Tigers’ bowlers, no other Pakistani batter could stay at the crease for long. Pakistan’s innings ended at 274 runs in 47.3 overs.
