Sports Desk: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has found evidence of the involvement of at least five individuals, including cricketers, in match-fixing allegations during the 2025 Bangladesh Premier League. They are now facing punishment. The BCB disclosed their names in a press release.

The Tiger Cricket Board stated that the five individuals have been charged for violating the ICC’s anti-corruption code. They are — Mohammad Lablur Rahman, manager of Chattogram Royals; Mohammad Towhidul Haque Towhid, co-owner of Noakhali Express; domestic cricketer Amit Majumder; team manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique; and cricket organiser Saminur Rahman. Allegations have been brought against these five individuals for involvement in corruption during the 2026 BPL.

The BCB said that the accused individuals have been temporarily suspended and given 14 days from the date of receiving notice to respond to the allegations. It also stated that the board will make no further comments on the matter at this stage.

According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Integrity Unit (BCBIU), investigations surrounding the 2026 BPL uncovered issues related to corrupt conduct, gambling activities, failure to cooperate with anti-corruption investigations, and obstruction of investigations. The investigation included allegations of involvement in betting-related activities, corrupt approaches, failure to comply with demand notices issued under Article 4.3 of the regulations, deletion of relevant confidential communications, and failure to assist the designated anti-corruption official (DACO).

Allegations of fixing first emerged during the 2025 BPL. Taking the matter seriously, the then BCB president Faruque Ahmed formed a high-powered investigation committee. After a lengthy inquiry, the committee submitted a massive investigation report of around 900 pages to the BCB. The report was later handed over to Alex Marshall, head of the BCB Integrity Unit.

Following verification and review, evidence was found linking several cricketers and related individuals to fixing activities. Speaking at a press conference in Mirpur today, Tamim Iqbal said, “Five cricketers have been identified for this offence. The investigation has proven the allegations. These five cricketers are going to face severe punishment.”
