Sports Desk: Ahead of the FIFA World Cup, Argentina’s World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi is standing on the verge of reaching a new milestone.

As part of their final preparation for the tournament, Messi will feature in two international friendly matches for Argentina.

In a bid to fine-tune their squad for defending the title, the Argentina national football team will face Honduras on June 6 at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.

By playing at Kyle Field, which has a seating capacity of around 100,000 spectators, Messi will set a new milestone in his career, as he is set to play in the largest stadium of his professional journey.

The match against Honduras will be only the second international football game ever hosted at Kyle Field. The first was in 2024, when more than 85,000 fans attended a Mexico vs Brazil match.

If all tickets are sold out as expected, this fixture could set a new record for the highest attendance for a football match in that region of the United States.

Argentina will conclude their World Cup preparations on June 9 with a match against Iceland at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama—another massive venue where one of football’s greatest stars will take the field.
