Diplomatic Correspondent: The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh hosted a reception in Dhaka to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Yao Wen and Mme. Li Yu hosted the reception, which was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, political leaders, military representatives, business leaders and distinguished guests.
In his remarks, Ambassador Yao Wen welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted China’s economic development, international role and growing relations with Bangladesh.
Referring to China’s economic performance, Ambassador Yao said China’s economy grew by 4.7 percent in the first half of the year, maintaining what he described as sound development despite challenges in the international economy, energy markets and global supply chains.
The Ambassador said China, as the world’s largest developing country and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, would continue to play a responsible role in promoting international cooperation, global development and peace.
He also highlighted the importance of China-Bangladesh relations, noting the long-standing friendship and expanding cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Yao said China supports Bangladesh in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and in strengthening its role in regional and international affairs.
He referred to the recent high-level exchanges between the two countries and said bilateral relations had entered a period of expanded cooperation, covering areas of mutual interest and development.
“China-Bangladesh relations serve the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples,” Ambassador Yao said, stressing that the friendship between the two countries is in line with the trend of the times.
The Ambassador also reflected on his tenure in Bangladesh, saying that he had served in the country for three years and nine months and would soon bid farewell as he prepares to leave his post.
He expressed deep appreciation for the friendship he experienced in Bangladesh and praised the resilience, national dignity and optimism of the Bangladeshi people, particularly the country’s young generation.
Ambassador Yao said his experiences travelling through Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh had strengthened his appreciation of the warm friendship between the peoples of China and Bangladesh.
He expressed confidence in the future of Bangladesh and hoped that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to grow.
The reception concluded with greetings for the continued friendship, cooperation and prosperity of China and Bangladesh.
