Saudi Arabia Celebrates 96th National Day in Dhaka; Ambassador Highlights Growing Bangladesh–Saudi Partnership

Diplomatic Correspondent: The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka celebrated the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a grand reception held at  Dhaka on Tuesday evening.

‎The reception was hosted by Dr. Abdullah Zafer Bin Abiyah, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh, who welcomed distinguished guests, including the Chief Guest Abdul Moyeen Khan, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, members of the diplomatic community, government officials, business leaders, and other prominent personalities.

‎Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Dr. Abdullah Zafer Bin Abiyah highlighted the Kingdom’s journey of development and transformation under Saudi Vision 2030, describing the National Day as an occasion to showcase Saudi Arabia’s progress across various sectors.
‎The Ambassador said that the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh has continued to strengthen, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, energy, labour, and cooperation in international forums.

‎He noted that bilateral trade between the two countries has shown steady growth, reaching around US$1.2 billion, while trade volume during the first six months of the year amounted to approximately US$500 million, representing a 6 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
‎
‎The Saudi envoy also emphasised the importance of the strong people-to-people and governmental ties between the two brotherly nations. He said the increasing frequency of high-level visits reflects the expanding cooperation and close partnership between Dhaka and Riyadh.

‎Ambassador Bin Abiyah expressed gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries, for their continued support in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

‎The reception concluded with guests extending greetings on the occasion of the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirming the longstanding friendship between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.
