News Desk: On the dawn of Bangladesh's victory in 1971, the nation remembered with respect the martyred intellectuals who were killed by the Pakistani forces with the help of their comrades. On this day at the end of the war of liberation in 1971, when the victory of the Bengalis was assured, the Pak aggressors with the help of their allies killed thousands of intellectuals including academics, doctors and journalists. Since then, December 14 has been revered by the nation as a day of martyred intellectuals.

People from all walks of life are remembering the martyred intellectuals by laying wreaths and lighting candles at the martyrs' altars in different parts of the country, including the Rayerbazar massacre ground in the capital. At the same time, the expectation of the nation is to execute the verdict of those who have killed the best children of the nation, those who are out of the judicial process or fugitives. Knowing the certain defeat in the great war of liberation, the Pakistani assassins started killing the intellectuals of the country to make the country incompetent on this day, with the aim of obstructing the reconstruction of Bangladesh after independence. And they are supported by the anti-independence razakars of this country. The Pakistani assassins wanted to make the Bengalis incompetent. For this, they have selected eminent academics, doctors, writers, journalists, philosophers and other eminent people of the country. They were abducted from their homes and brutally killed by Pakistani assassins. Later, the bodies of the best children of the nation were found in Mirpur and Rayerbazar areas with signs of brutal torture. Later it became known as the slaughterhouse.

Every year December 14 is celebrated as Martyred Intellectuals Day. This time, due to the Corona situation, the program of the intellectual day has been taken in compliance with the health rules. Tributes have started to be paid at the Rayerbazar massacre site in the early hours of Monday night, December 14. Flowers were given by Awami League, Juba League, Chhatra League and other organizations. People of different classes and attire paid their respects. Burning candles are placed on the altar of martyrdom in memory of the best children of the nation. From Monday morning, people of all ages gathered at the Rayerbazar Massacre Memorial to pay their respects to the martyred intellectuals. The area of ​​the massacre memorial is filled with flowers paid homage by various political parties, social and cultural organizations and people from all walks of life. Family members of the martyred intellectuals have come to Mirpur to remember them. Detailed programs have been taken nationally on the occasion of the day.

The program includes hoisting of national and black flags, laying of wreaths at the Martyred Intellectual Memorial in Mirpur and the Rayerbazar Massacre, and paying homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu. Awami League has taken various programs on the occasion of the day. Their program includes hoisting black flags at the party's central office, Bangabandhu Bhaban and offices of organizations across the country as soon as the sun rises and hoisting national and party flags at half-mast. Wreath-laying at Mirpur Shaheed Buddhijibi Memorial at 9 am. Tribute was paid to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 9.30 am and at Rayerbazar massacre ground at 10 am.

Besides, Martyred Intellectuals' Day is being celebrated in all districts and upazilas of the country with various arrangements. Highlighting the significance of Intellectuals' Day, Bangladesh Betar is broadcasting special programs on Bangladesh Television and other TV channels.
