On this day in 1971, the Pakistani aggressors and their ally Razakar Al-Badr, Al-Shams jointly planned to assassinate the best child intellectuals of Bengal. Just two days before the final victory of the Bengalis, a tragic massacre took place.

They selectively killed countless academics, researchers, doctors, engineers, journalists, poets and writers. Major General Rao Farman Ali, the military adviser to the Governor of East Pakistan, drew up this blueprint to wipe out Bengali intellectuals in East Pakistan. The cadres of Al-Badr paramilitary forces carried out this barbaric massacre under their umbrella with the help of Pak army. Knowing that imminent defeat was imminent, the invading Pakistani forces made this plan to kill the intellectuals in order to make the Bengali nation incompetent. According to the book 'Bangladesh' published in 1972, 991 of the intellectuals were academics, 49 were doctors, 42 were lawyers and 18 were writers, artists and engineers. In this list of intellectuals killed, 202 teachers and 10 lawyers were killed in Dhaka division and 224 teachers and 10 lawyers were killed in Chittagong division.

In Khulna division 260 teachers and six lawyers were killed, in Rajshahi division 282 teachers and 15 lawyers were killed. However, the list did not include the names of university teachers.
