News Desk:  The United Nations' five-day-long world's largest anti-corruption conference is starting in Atlanta, USA. Bangladesh is also participating in this conference which is going to start on Monday (December 11).

It is known that a delegation of the country will be in the conference under the leadership of Asia Khatun, Commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission.

The conference was held after two years under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Since the signing of the Charter in 2003, this conference is mainly to evaluate how the countries that have signed it are implementing anti-corruption activities. The strengthening of cooperation in anti-corruption activities of the participating countries was also discussed.

Prior to the conference, reports on each country's anti-corruption situation were finalized by the other two countries and presented to the conference. For example, this time Bangladesh and Sweden evaluated the proposed draft of Switzerland's report and finalized it. Similarly, Tajikistan and Comoros were supposed to finalize the Bangladesh corruption report. But it was not finalized due to coordination complications.

Incidentally, US State Department Global Anti-Corruption Coordinator Richard Nephew invited Bangladesh to participate in the United Nations Anti-Corruption Conference in Atlanta during his visit to Dhaka last August.
