Online Desk:  US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has alleged that China is trying to interfere in the US elections to be held in November.

He made this complaint in an interview given to the US broadcaster CNN on the last day of his visit to China.

Blinken said the US has evidence of Chinese efforts to influence and interfere in the upcoming US election. However, Chinese President Xi Jinping had previously promised not to interfere in the US election.

While Blinken was giving the CNN interview, top US officials were meeting with various Chinese officials, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, on various issues. Notable among these were the US technology sector and China's support for Moscow.

Blinken said in the interview, 'Generally speaking, we have seen attempts to influence and perhaps attempts to intervene. We want to ensure that this effort is stopped quickly. China's interference in our elections is something we are watching very carefully. This is completely unacceptable to us.'

The US Secretary of State visited China twice in less than a year. US President Joe Biden and Xi Jinping met in San Francisco in November last year. Then the Chinese president promised that his country would not interfere in the US election.
