News Desk: Sweden has officially joined the North Atlantic Security Alliance (NATO) as a new member. The country completed the process of joining the military alliance in a ceremony in Washington on Thursday. Reuters news. Sweden's Prime Minister Wolf Kristerson handed over the necessary documents to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the official NATO accession ceremony. And through this, Sweden is the 32nd member of NATO. In February 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. After that, Sweden applied to join NATO.

After nearly two years of extensive negotiations, the country finally got its membership on Thursday. After receiving these documents, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that those who wait get something good. And after joining NATO, Swedish Prime Minister Wolf Kristerson said that unity and solidarity will serve as a beacon for Sweden. Russia has a 1,340 km border with Scandinavian countries Sweden and Finland. Finland joined NATO last year, but objections from Turkey and Hungary have left Sweden's membership uncertain. But now the western world thinks that the joining of NATO by these two countries is an additional pressure on Russia. Because Russian President Vladimir Putin prevented the alliance from strengthening. For years, Sweden and Finland had refused to join a military alliance. But after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the two countries expressed interest in joining NATO.
