US has granted record number of visas to Indian students

News desk:  USA has given record number of visas to Indian students in one year. US embassies and consulates in India issued more than 140,000 student visas between October 2022 and September 2023, an all-time record, according to the US State Department.

Our embassies and consulates in India have issued more than 140,000 student visas, an all-time record, the US State Department announced on Tuesday (November 28). Indian media NDTV gave this news in a report.

According to the US State Department, from October 2022 to September 2023 (the 2023 federal fiscal year), the State Department issued more than 10 million nonimmigrant visas worldwide.

Half of US embassies and consulates issued more nonimmigrant visas than ever before, according to a statement. US embassies issued nearly 8 million visitor visas for business and tourism, more than in any fiscal year since 2015. More than 6 lakh student visas were issued during this period, the highest in any year since 2017.

More than 1.2 million Indians visited the US last year, US embassies and consulates in India said in a statement. They say, 'Indians now represent more than 10 percent of all visa applicants worldwide. Out of which 20 percent are student visa applicants. RH&L-category (Employment) visa applicants account for 65 percent. The United States welcomes this increase.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited the US mission in the capital to oversee the 'unprecedented demand' for US visitor visas among Indians. The US Embassy said Garcetti was a special guest on 'Super Saturday' to assist additional visa applicants.
