International Desk: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fears that Russia will launch more attacks on the country in the coming days. He warned Western allies that Russia could step up its campaign ahead of the announcement of membership in the European Union (EU). The EU is expected to decide this weekend whether the candidate will provide it to Kiev. This step could start the process of joining the Ukrainian alliance. However, gaining membership can take years. However, Zelensky warned that the decision could lead to an intensification of Russian attacks. In a speech on Sunday night, the Ukrainian leader said he and his advisers feared major hostile activity from Moscow. He called on the Ukrainian military to be ready for any new attack. Last week, EU member states pledged to move ahead with Ukraine's alliance. However, the decision depends on the European Council. The member states will attend a summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
