News Desk: The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level in the country has been reduced by Tk 8 to Tk 106 per kg from zero 2 paise to Tk 100 29 paise per kg. This information was revealed from the online press conference of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Thursday (June 2). The new rates will be effective from 6 pm. The previous three months, the price of LP gas continued to rise. This time the price of 12 kg cylinder has been reduced by 93 rupees as compared to the previous month. According to the new price, the price of LPG has been fixed at Tk 103.52 per kg in June. In May it was 111 rupees 26 paise. Similarly, the price of 12 kg cylinder has been fixed at Tk 1,242, which was Tk 1,335 in May. Earlier in May, the price of LPG had come down by Tk 7.8 per kg. As such, at that time the price per 12 kg cylinder was reduced from Tk 1,439 to Tk 1,335. This reduced the price of LPG for two consecutive months. According to BERC data, the price of auto gas for June has been reduced from Tk 72.21 per liter to Tk 58.91. The price of government LPG will remain unchanged. It is learned that propane and butane, the main ingredients for making LPG, are imported from different countries. Aramco, a Saudi Arabian company, publishes the price of these two components of LPG every month. This is known as Saudi Cargo Price (CP). BERC adjusts the price of LPG in the country based on this Saudi CP.
