Awami League was created to establish the rights of the people: Obaidul Quader

News Desk: Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that the party was formed to establish the rights of the people. He said the political struggle of the Awami League has been conducted around the hopes and aspirations of the people.

He made the remarks in a statement to the media on Friday (March 11th). He made the statement while strongly condemning and protesting the purposeful statement of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir published in the media.

"The government wants to stay in power by force!" Obaidul Quader said in response to the BNP secretary general's allegation. The political struggle of the Awami League has been conducted around the hopes and aspirations of the people.

He said the Awami League has always come to power in a democratic process with the mandate of the people. Unlike the BNP, it did not seize power through the barrel of a gun or through a back door.

The bridge minister said the Awami League's relationship with the independence and sovereignty of this country is historically proven. The right of the people of this country to self-determination has been established through a long struggle for independence under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Awami League General Secretary said that millions of Awami League leaders and activists have given their lives for the establishment of freedom, independence, liberation, sovereignty and democracy of the people of this country. On the other hand, the creation of BNP is against the backdrop of dictatorship by killing the independence, sovereignty and democracy of this country. Their leader, the military dictator Ziaur Rahman, illegally seized power, smashed the sacred constitution written in the blood of 3 million martyrs and protected the killers of four national leaders, including the father of the nation, by issuing an indemnity ordinance.

He said BNP's politics has revolved around the conspiracy to implement the anti-independence forces and anti-liberation war political ideology of this country. During the BNP rule, there was a horrible example of torture of minorities and repression of opposition leaders and activists. The BNPE turned democratic Bangladesh into a fascist state with the help of extremist-communal evil forces.

The Awami League leader said that whenever BNP came to power, it carried out anti-consciousness activities of the great liberation war and ran the country with Pakistani ideology. In addition to distorting the ideology of the war of liberation, independence and sovereignty have been repeatedly threatened. They have always tried to confuse the nation by distorting the history of the liberation war. The BNP has become a major obstacle in building a united generation in the flame of patriotism.

Obaidul Quader further said that Awami League is the leading organization in the freedom struggle and liberation war. Under the uncompromising leadership of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, the long dictatorship has come to an end and democracy has been re-established. The independence-sovereignty and democracy of this country is safe only in the hands of Awami League.

He said the Awami League is always committed to the economic liberation and establishment of democratic rights of the people of this country. We cannot hand over the democratic rights of the people to the patrons of anti-independence war criminals, evil forces, corrupt militancy and terrorism.

Quader said Sheikh Hasina has no alternative but to reach the desired goal of human development, democratic progress, economic development and prosperity. Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh will become a liberal progressive-democratic developed-modern and prosperous state.
