Wife and child arrested for killing businessman and Japa leader in Panchagarh

Al Masud, Panchagarh Correspondent: Police have arrested wife Bonya Akhter, 48, and younger son Bandhan, 21, in connection with the murder of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Jatiya Party general secretary and stone trader Golam Azam, 53.

When Panchagarh Chief Judicial Magistrate was taken to court on Tuesday (March 8), the police applied for a five-day remand. Later, Chief Judicial Magistrate Humayun Kabir Sarkar granted one day remand.

Investigating officer of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station Bhabesh Chandra Pal confirmed the matter in the evening. Earlier, Panchagarh Sadar Police arrested them from their homes on Monday night (March 8).

Last Saturday (March 5) evening, his bloodied body was found in his bedroom at Ghatial Para of Dhakkamara Union in Panchagarh Sadar. Police initially believe that businessman Golam Azam was killed by hitting him on the head with a sharp weapon. Ghulam Azam lived at home with his wife Bonya Akhter, younger son Bandhan and a six-year-old daughter. The eldest son Limon lives in Mymensingh to study. The eldest son came home after hearing the incident. Badiuzzaman Limon, the eldest son of the deceased, filed a murder case with the police station late on Sunday (March 8) to nab his father's killer.
