Students of Pabna university now demand proctor's resignation

News Desk: The students of Pabna University of Science and Technology (Pust) have staged another protest demanding the resignation of the university Proctor Hasibur Rahman.

Protesters surrounded the proctor's office on Monday afternoon, chanting that Hasibur Rahman is a corrupt and incompetent employee. 

Students claim Proctor Hasibur Rahman is the university’s former vice chancellor Dr M Rustam Ali’s main accomplice in the corruption and irregularities surrounding Pust's recruitment process.

The protesters say student assaults, theft, and drug traders have taken hold of the campus due to the mismanagement and corruption at the university's core. 

Refuting the claims, Proctor Hasibur said: “The university does not have a guardian right now. Every post, including VC, pro-vc and treasurer are now vacant. “

The students are trying to destabilize the university and some teachers are also trying to take advantage of this situation.

On Wednesday, students staged a demonstration on the campus demanding a probe against the former VC for corruption and irregularities. 

The students said that the VC had destroyed the administrative discipline at the university. 

The outraged students also burned an effigy of the VC on the campus.
