How did thousands of people gather on the streets of Rampura on such a long night?

News Desk: Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that there are questions about where thousands of people came from within 10-12 minutes of the death of student Mainuddin in Anabil Paribahan bus crash in Rampura.

He made the remarks while participating in a road safety and public awareness program on Manik Mia Avenue that started at 10:30 am on Saturday (December 4).

The bridge minister said, "We are working hard to make the road safe." Road transport laws have been enacted to ensure road safety. The highway bill has been passed to restore order on the highway including eviction of illegal structures. The World Bank is assisting in a program to make roads safer.

Noting that the BRTA does not have the required manpower, he said, "We are still trying."

Highlighting the information of two or three accidents that have taken place recently, he said that accidents on the road are not desirable, it is sad. Various allegations have been raised after the accident in Rampura. Where did thousands of people come from 10-12 minutes after the accident? How did the news of the accident spread in 10-12 minutes on so many nights? The news of the death is sad. Despite having different questions, we have taken various initiatives to avoid accidents. We have accepted the issue of half fare for students.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has taken initiative to increase road safety and public awareness. As part of this, a road safety road show has started simultaneously on Manik Mia Avenue, Kalabagan Ground Road and Kakli Police Box Road from 10:30 am on Saturday.

Sarwar Alam, director of BRTA's enforcement branch, told Dhaka Post that nine mobile courts of BRTA in Dhaka are conducting regular raids. Apart from collecting extra rent, the campaign will continue to reduce other crimes. We will continue this campaign to keep the roads safe.
