Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has condemned and protested the statement of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir published and disseminated in the media.

In a statement on Friday, he said the current government has not established a reign of terror. Law and order forces are working under the auspices of the BNP to prevent the spread of politics of terrorism and mischief.

Quader said that after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family, the military ruler Ziaur Rahman illegally occupied the state power and established the BNP in the army camp by violating the constitution and law of Bangladesh, which was completely illegal.

Every time the BNP has come to power, it has received the patronage of national and international terrorist groups. It was through their hands that the poisonous tree of terror on the soil of this country became Mahiruha, the latest version of which was extremist radical terrorism.

The bridge minister said the BNP wanted to rule the people of the country through terrorism by banishing the policy of politics, bringing 10 trucks of arms and turning Bangladesh into a breeding ground for international terrorism. Following this, on 21 August 2004, a hellish grenade attack was carried out with the direct help of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in order to eradicate the opposition by violating all the etiquettes of the democratic structure and to assassinate Sheikh Hasina.

He said the Awami League has always been committed to the rule of law. Under the guise of party identity, no criminal has ever been indulged, nor will be indulged. Whoever is involved in the Barisal incident must be brought under the law. Meanwhile, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself has directed the administration to take disciplinary action against those involved and many have been arrested. The nation has not yet forgotten the tragedy of state terrorism during the BNP rule.

He further said that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir compared the overall situation with the development and progress of Bangladesh with that of Pakistan. But under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, for more than a decade, Bangladesh's progress in all socio-economic fields is unprecedented, which has been praised in the world court. World leaders and international experts have recognized Bangladesh as a role model for development led by Sheikh Hasina.

Despite the epidemic, Bangladesh is in a relatively good position due to Sheikh Hasina's strong leadership and efficient management. Even in the Pakistani media, Sheikh Hasina's government was highly praised and the country's experts advised their ruling class to learn from Bangladesh. In such a situation, only people with the ideology of 'Pakistani love in everything' can make such a comparison.

He called upon all those who believe in the spirit of the great liberation war and democratic values under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina to work in unity and deal with all conspiracies by turning mourning into strength in August, the month of mourning.
