Symbolic Mars procession in a limited range at Dhaka University

News Desk: Considering the situation and lockdown caused by a coronavirus, this time Bengali New Year has been celebrated in Dhaka University through a limited symbolic program. On this occasion, a short symbolic Mars procession was organized on the faculty premises with various masks and symbols made by the Faculty of Fine Arts artists while maintaining physical distance by the hygiene rules.

State Minister for Culture KM Khalid and Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman Pratiki led the procession. Participated in the University Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor. ASM Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Nisar Hossain, President of DU Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah, General Secretary Prof. Teachers, and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts including Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan.

On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman wished all the teachers, students, officials, and employees of the university a happy Bengali New Year. The year 1428 is important in many respects. The arrival of the Bengali New Year came at the juncture of the centenary of Dhaka University, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the golden jubilee of independence.

The Vice-Chancellor sincerely thanked the Faculty of Fine Arts for organizing a symbolic Mars procession to welcome the Bengali New Year in a very limited manner following the hygiene rules considering the situation arising out of Kovid-19. State Minister for Culture KM Khalid said, But in the current Corona epidemic situation, it is not possible to celebrate the first Baishakh in a festive atmosphere this year.

We hope that in the future we will be able to celebrate the Bengali New Year in Bangladesh as before. He thanked the university authorities and the Faculty of Fine Arts for organizing this symbolic Mars procession in the midst of various obstacles.
