Meeting of the Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh with the Speaker

News Desk: Speaker of Parliament. Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Aspen Richter Wendsen paid a courtesy call on Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. The meeting was held at the Speaker's office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday (March 2).

During the meeting, they discussed issues related to Corona-era health session, food security in Corona-era Bangladesh, Bangladesh law on prevention of violence against women and children, the current status of Covid vaccine, development of bilateral relations, etc.

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that Norway is a very old friend of Bangladesh and Bangladesh's bilateral relations with Norway are very strong. He expressed hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the future.

The Speaker further said that due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the food security of people of all walks of life has been ensured even in the Corona Crisis. The death rate in Corona is relatively low in Bangladesh.

The Speaker said that the present government is working relentlessly to provide covid vaccine to all.

Ambassador Aspen Richter Wendsen said that the actions taken by the government in an effort to keep the wheel of Bangladesh's economy moving during the Kovid period are to be commended. Aspen Richter Wendsen praised Bangladesh's customary law to prevent violence against women and children.

At this time. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said necessary laws have been amended to prevent violence against women and children. He hoped that the Norwegian government would always stand by Bangladesh in its efforts to move forward.
