Bangladesh received $1.887 billion in remittances during the first 17 days of August, equivalent to Tk 23,210.10 crore at an exchange rate of Tk 123 per US dollar.
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the information on Tuesday (August 18).
According to him, remittances worth Tk 1,205.40 crore entered the country on Monday (August 17) alone.
Bangladesh received $1.424 billion in remittances during the first 17 days of August last year. Compared with that figure, remittance inflows increased by 32.60% during the same period this year.
An analysis of the overall remittance inflow during the current fiscal year, from July 1 to August 17, shows that the country has received $4.746 billion so far.
During the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, Bangladesh received $3.902 billion in remittances.
This means remittance inflows have increased by 21.60% year-on-year during the same period.
