Diplomatic Correspondent: The Russian House in Bangladesh today inaugurated a week-long film festival titled “Frames of Memory: From Moscow to Bangladesh”, commemorating the 81st anniversary of Russian Victory Day. The opening ceremony brought together Russian language students, scholarship nominees, academics, and representatives from various universities across Bangladesh.
The festival aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of Soviet and post-war cinema while reflecting on the sacrifices and human experiences associated with World War II. Through a carefully curated lineup of films, the event seeks to strengthen cultural understanding and historical awareness among young audiences.
The opening session featured remarks by Alexandra Klevnoy, who emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and honoring the millions of lives lost during the war. She highlighted the role of cinema as a powerful medium for conveying the emotional and human dimensions of conflict, resilience, and peace.
Following the address, attendees watched an insightful psychological analysis of the acclaimed Soviet war classic Ballad of a Soldier before a full screening of the legendary film. The cinematic experience offered audiences a profound exploration of humanity, sacrifice, and hope amid the devastation of war.
The festival will continue until May 21, 2026, featuring a diverse selection of iconic Soviet and post-war films that showcase some of the most memorable “frames” in Russian cinematic history.
