News Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made it clear that she will not resign on allegations of rigging in the assembly elections. According to him, this defeat to the BJP is not a natural reflection of public opinion, but the bias of the Election Commission and the deep conspiracy of the central power have worked behind it.
He made this announcement at the post-election press conference at Kalighat on Tuesday (May 5).
When Mamata was asked when she was resigning, she said that she is not resigning now. Mamata said, why resign? We didn't lose. Votes were looted by force. Where is the question of resignation coming from?
He said, where the fight was against a constitutional institution, leaving the field meant bowing to injustice.
Despite speculation in political circles about the possibility of his resignation, the outgoing chief minister has made it clear that he is not resigning just yet. Rather, he expressed his determination to continue fighting in this adverse situation.
Also present at the press conference with Mamata were Shovandev Chatterjee, Derek O'Brien, Firhad Hakim, Abhishek Banerjee, Kalyan Banerjee and Chandrima Bhattacharya.
