News Desk: 41 former US diplomats and military officials have written to US President Joe Biden to return to the Iran nuclear deal. They said in a letter that the Biden administration should do its utmost to get the United States back into the Iran nuclear deal immediately.

News from Sputnik. Former US President Barack Obama's administration signed a nuclear deal with Iran in 2015, but in 2016 his successor, Donald Trump, unilaterally withdrew the United States from the deal.

President Biden has repeatedly campaigned before the November election to bring the United States back to the nuclear deal, but he has not made any plans since taking office. However, he fulfilled his election promise to return to the climate deal on the day he took office.

Recently, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that there is still a long way to go before a full-fledged nuclear deal can be reached with Iran. Former US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the Iran nuclear deal in May 2016 and imposed tough sanctions on Tehran. Iran has recently begun enriching uranium to 20 levels, despite a nuclear deal that calls for 3 percent uranium enrichment.
