International Desk: A gold mine collapsed in Balurat area, 100 kilometers west of Melbourne, Australia. At least one person was killed in this incident. 29 people were injured. According to AP, the area is famous for gold mining. There are several gold mines here. Most of the people living in the city are also involved in gold mining. According to the local administration, a rock fell suddenly in a gold mine on Wednesday. Many workers were working in the mine at that time.

29 workers took shelter in safe trenches inside the mine. But two workers were hit by stones. One person was later rescued and airlifted to hospital. But the other was recovered dead. The age of the deceased is 37 years. His family has been informed. The condition of another worker is also said to be critical.

Experts said, this situation could have been avoided if desired. First, the mine was closed for a long time. As a result, there were no safety measures at all. Secondly, the method by which the workers went down the mine to find coal was not the correct method. The risk in this method is very high.

It is alleged that the mine authorities forced the workers to do the work to find coal quickly. Mining officials, however, did not comment on this. Even after the collapse, it was not possible to contact the mine authorities. The mine authorities commented on the matter only after the local administration intervened.

The administration has informed that action may be taken against them. On the other hand, the local mayor said that there are several mines in the area. Others should learn from this incident.
