Vaccine Innovation and Global Health Resilience: Lessons from Covid- 19 and Beyond

Hon' ble Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, MP, participated in a high-level panel discussion today on Vaccine Innovation and Global Health Resilience: Lessons from Covid- 19 and Beyond at the Doha Forum, Qatar. Dr. Momen focussed on the experiences and achievements of Bangladesh in providing vaccinations to a larger population successfully during and before Covid- 19. He underlined the need to allow every nation to have equal access to vaccines as a public good during emergencies like Covid. He highlighted the strategies how Bangladesh sourced vaccines from different destinations and consequently achieved resilience through prerogretive activities in terms of delivery adding that collaboration and shared cooperation are prerequisites to effective delivery of vaccines to those needed. The Foreign Minister also attended the Chatham House discussion moderated by Mr. Bronwon Maddox, CEO of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, London which was joined by the Prime Minister of the State of Qatar and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as well as dignitaries from other participating countries, and Heads/ CEOs of the international Think Tanks etc. The two day different events are being attended by Heads of State and Government, dignitaries as well as policymakers, members of the private sector, and civil society representatives from around the world. Dr. Momen, is leading a 5- member Bangladesh delegation at the Doha Forum at the invitation of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim- Al Thani. It may be noted that this year marks the 21st Edition of the Doha Forum with the theme: Building Shared futures. Innovating governance for Global and Regional problem-solving.
