Rahul Gandhi arrested by the police

International Desk: The former president of the Indian National Congress and one of the top leaders of the party, Rahul Gandhi, has been arrested by the police. He was arrested by the police during protests in Delhi on Tuesday (July 26).

Indian media NDTV reported this information in a report on Tuesday. According to the report, he was arrested from a protest organized against the increase in the prices of daily necessities including the GST hike.

According to NDTV, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took part in a protest in the center of the capital Delhi on Tuesday to protest against the increase in the prices of daily necessities including the increase in GST. He was leading protests against the ruling BJP government on various issues including price hike.

Meanwhile, a large number of police surrounded the protest site of the Congress. After about 30 minutes Rahul Gandhi was arrested by the policemen. After the arrest, he was taken by bus.

Before the arrest, Rahul Gandhi said, "India is a police state, (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) is a king."

The media reported that Rahul Gandhi led Tuesday's protest. But he was practically the last person (at the protest) when the police were discussing whether to arrest him or not.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We are protesting as per the instructions of the police. This is a conspiracy by PM Modi and Amit Shah to completely destroy the opposition and silence our voices. We will not be afraid, our fight will continue.
