International Desk: At least 33 people have died after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti in the Red Sea. 20 people were rescued alive. Others are missing. The boat sank on Wednesday. According to reports, 33 migrants have died in a boat sinking off the coast of Djibouti in the Red Sea. The United Nations Migration Agency IOM said 77 migrants were crossing the Red Sea from Yemen to Ethiopia.
The report also said that the fishermen witnessed the sinking of the boat carrying the residents and informed the Coast Guard. Rescuers later managed to rescue more than 20 people alive. After being rescued, they were treated in the town of Gadoria on the coast of Djibouti. Later the United Nations Migration Agency IOM arranged for their repatriation to Ethiopia. Iss Eiyah, a senior official at the Djibouti Coast Guard, said those on board the sunken boat wanted to leave Yemen.
