News Desk: Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has urged rice traders to be humane towards consumers without making extra profit. He made the call on Monday (May 30) from the minister's office room at the secretariat in a virtual meeting of the 'Boro 2022 season online exchange meeting on internal procurement and market monitoring'. If necessary, the consumers will be relieved by importing rice by reducing the tax. ” The food minister advised consumers not to panic. He directed the administration to create awareness as well as increase surveillance in the paddy and rice market, adding that "farmers and mill owners should not be harassed in any way while collecting paddy and rice." "Agriculture department officials can assist the farmers by testing the paddy with moisture meter." The food minister said, “If we go to the farmer's house and check the moisture and send the farmer along with the paddy to the warehouse, their suffering will be reduced. You don't have to go back to the warehouse with more moisture or wet paddy. ” Addressing the mill owners, he said he would not send the rice to the warehouse unless it met the quality standards. There will be no compromise with the quality of rice.
