National Human Development Report handed over to the Prime Minister

News Desk: National Human Development Report (NHDR) 2021 has been handed over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On Thursday (December 9), Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal handed over a copy of the report at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganobhaban. Earlier, the Economic Relations Department (ERD) under the ministry took the initiative to formulate NHDR 2021 to mark the golden jubilee of the country's independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a press release said. The main theme of the report is 'People of Bangladesh are the focal point of all development'.

The report covers five strategic issues - inequality, climate change, youth employment, Bangladesh for the dreams of adolescents and peace and prosperity which are considered important for the future human development of Bangladesh. NHDR 2021 has an overview and seven chapters: Reflection of Human Development in Bangladesh; The path to future human development is an analytical framework; Human Development and Inequality: Bangladesh Perspectives; Climate change and human development in Bangladesh; Youth employment is the key to Bangladesh's future human development; Dreams of teenagers; A Peaceful and Prosperous Bangladesh: Strategies and Institutions. In this development journey of Bangladesh for the last 50 years, Bangladesh is being considered as a 'development miracle' in the world arena. The torch bearer and guide of this development journey of Bangladesh is Bangabandhu's vision and development thinking and dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister.

The NHDR outlines the ways to achieve SDGs by 2030 and the goal of becoming a developed country by 2041, as well as the achievements and challenges of Bangladesh. This report will contribute to the development of future human resource development strategies as well as development discussions and research in Bangladesh.
