Economy Desk:  In the last two days, the price of onion has further decreased in the markets of the capital. On the contrary, the price of eggs has increased again. The price of onion has decreased by 5 rupees per kg. And the price of eggs has increased by 10 rupees per dozen.

On Tuesday (March 26) the various markets of Rampura, Khilgaon, Malibagh, Mouchak, Shantinagar, Kamalapur of the capital were found. Traders said that the supply of new onions in the market has reduced the price. On the contrary, the demand for eggs is increasing in price.

Last August, the government imposed a 40 percent tariff on onion exports to maintain normal supply to the Indian market. Then last October, the minimum export price of onion was set at 800 US dollars per ton. But since these measures were not very effective to increase the supply of onion in the domestic market, the Indian government completely stopped onion export on December 7.

India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade has imposed a ban on onion exports until March 31 this year. After India's ban, the price of onion in the Bangladesh market has suddenly increased. At the retail level, the price of chopped onion rose up to Tk 140 per kg.

In such a situation, Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu said that India will give 50 thousand tons of onions to Bangladesh. He also expressed optimism that Indian onions will come to Bangladesh at the end of fasting. However, even after 15 days of fasting, Indian onions have not yet arrived in the Bangladeshi market.

However, the supply of Indian onions has increased in the market even though Indian onions did not come. That's why the price of onion is decreasing continuously. A few days ago onion was 130-140 taka per kg, now some traders are selling it at 55 taka. However, most of the traders are selling onions for 60 rupees per kg.

Malibagh Hajipara businessman said about the price of onions. Jahangir said, it is very difficult to understand the behavior of the market. Yesterday I bought onions from Arat at the price of 60 taka per kg. Today I am selling that onion for 60 rupees. nothing to do All of a sudden the price of onion has come down.

He said, a few days ago, onion khechi was 140 taka. I sold onions for 65-70 rupees last Friday due to price reduction. Now it is selling at 60 taka per kg. Even though the price has come down, the quality of onion now is better than the previous onion. The supply of good quality onions is increasing in the market, due to which the prices are falling. But now there is no Indian onion in the market. If Indian onion enters the market, the price may come down further.

Selling 55 taka kg onion in Rampura van. Shah Alam said, we try to reduce profit and sell more. In the market now onion is 60 taka per kg, we are selling it at 55 taka. The price of onion has decreased. Because of this, we are also able to sell at low prices. If the price falls further in the future, I will sell at a lower price in the future. Yesterday I sold onion for 60 taka, today I am selling it for 55 taka. Because today I was able to buy onions at a lower price than yesterday.

He said, I bring 4-5 onions every day. We travel in vans to different regions and sell. Almost all the onions we bring every day are sold. On the day I buy at a lower price, I sell at a lower price. And if you want to buy it at a higher price, then it increases the price. Sells at a limited profit.

Meanwhile, the price of eggs, which were sold for 140 Tk a dozen days ago, has come down to Tk 110-120. Last Friday too, a dozen eggs were sold for Tk 120. However, the price of eggs has increased again in the last two days. A dozen eggs are now being sold at Tk 125-130.

Shahin Alam, who sells a dozen eggs at Tk 130 in Khilgaon, said that before the fasting started, a dozen eggs were Tk 140. As the demand for eggs decreases during fasting, the dozen comes to Tk 120. However, the price of eggs has been increasing for two days. Now a dozen eggs are selling for 130 rupees. The sale of eggs increases when the price is reduced, that's why the price is increasing again.

Malibag businessman. Milon said that eggs are a hot food, that's why many people don't eat less eggs during fasting. Because of this, the demand for eggs decreases a lot at the beginning of fasting. As a result, the price also decreased. After the price drop, the demand for eggs increases again. And due to the increase in demand, the price is seen to increase again. Even if the price has increased a little now, it is unlikely that the price of eggs will increase much during the fasting month.

Meanwhile, the vegetable market has seen that traders are selling brinjal at Tk 40-50 per kg, beans at Tk 30-40, cabbage at Tk 70-80, sajne data at Tk 300-320, gourd at Tk 30-40, bitter gourd at Tk 50-60, tomato at Tk 30- 50 taka, carrot 40-50 taka, papaya 30-40 taka per kg. Bananas are currently being sold at Tk 30-40. Chilli pods are being sold at Tk 25-30. Data flour is being sold for Tk 20-30. A lot of lati is being sold at 60-70 taka per kg.

Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 220-230 per kg. A kg of Pakistani cock or golden chicken is being sold at Tk 330-340. Red layer chicken is being sold at the same price.
