International Desk: Tripura Chief Minister Biplob Deb has demanded the launch of direct flights with Bangladesh's capital Dhaka and commercial capital Chittagong. He made the demand in a video conference with Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently.
On Wednesday, the Tripura Chief Minister said in a tweet that he had called on the Union Minister of Civil Aviation to launch direct flights between Tripura and Bangladesh, considering the importance of communication between Bangladesh and India. In this case, Biplob Dev has mentioned two places in Bangladesh - Dhaka and Chittagong. He mentioned the need for a direct flight to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala with the two cities. The Tripura Chief Minister also assured that the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation of India would extend full cooperation in implementing the demand. However, the demand for direct Dhaka-Agartala flight is not new in Tripura.
The Chief Minister of Tripura made the same request after meeting the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina during her visit to New Delhi in October 2019. Biplob Deb also claimed that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh has shown enthusiasm in his proposal.
