Corona test starts at airport from Saturday: Health Minister

News Desk: Sample testing of coronavirus for foreign passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will start from Saturday (September 25). Health Minister Zahid Malek told reporters after inspecting the RT-PCR lab set up at the airport on Thursday (September 23) afternoon.

The Minister said, "I have personally come here the day before yesterday and fixed a place here to expedite the installation of RT-PCR lab at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport." Hopefully, it will be possible to complete the construction of the infrastructure by this (Thursday) evening. Several machines have already arrived.

He said the concerned officials of the health sector are working tirelessly in this regard. If all goes well, people from abroad will be able to go abroad without any hindrance by testing from these PCR-labs by next Saturday, Saturday.

What is the number of labs and how many people can test in the labs daily? In response to such a question, the health minister said, 12 machines will be installed in six labs here. At least three and a half to four thousand people can be tested every day through the labs. Here both Rapid PCR Lab for rapid testing and RT-PCR Lab for general testing will work.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Private Medical College Association Anwar Hossain Khan MP, Director General of Health Department Prof ABM Khurshid Alam, Executive Director of Airport Authority and other senior officials were present with the Health Minister during the briefing.
