News Desk: After August 5, the owners want to keep the hotels and restaurants open as per the health rules. Even if that is not possible, they have demanded to open at least half of the seats in hotels and restaurants. In this situation, besides opening hotels and restaurants to the Prime Minister, they have put forward other proposals.

The Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association made the demand at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Nasrul Hamid auditorium at 11:30 am on Monday (August 2).

Imran Hassan, secretary general of the association, said in a written statement at the press conference, "The restaurant sector has been hit the hardest by the epidemic of coronavirus." So far, due to Corona, we have limited our business to half-seats and sometimes only online / takeway as per government guidelines. But it is not possible to do business with takeaways. '

"It's just a takeaway," he said. It is not being sold. Restaurant traders are lost today and are currently plagued with various problems.

According to the Restaurant Owners Association, 3 million employees and about 20 million people are directly and indirectly involved in 60,000 restaurants across the country. They are now living an inhuman life. Eighty percent of restaurants across the country are closed. Currently, only 2 to 3 percent of the companies doing takeaway, parcel and online delivery.

Imran Hassan said, "Currently, the announcement to close the restaurant with only online delivery is malicious. In this, local traders are being harassed. Here are the hands of domestic and foreign selfish quarters. Those who want to popularize the takeway business. He wants to take business in their hands. '

In this context, besides opening restaurants to the Prime Minister, he made other proposals, saying, "Provide Rs 20,000 crore from the SME sector to the sector as running capital to keep the hotel restaurant business going." Which will be a simple, low-interest unsecured and long-term loan. In addition, since the restaurant sector is a service sector, it is important to provide corona vaccine to owners and workers on a priority basis. That is our demand. "

They also demanded that incentives be given to workers in the hotel-restaurant sector. In addition, e-commerce takeaways, parcels and online deliveries need to be commissioned at a maximum of 10 per cent in line with the outside world and controlled by formulating a fair policy.
