In India, 68 people were killed in a terrible lightning strike

At least six people have been killed in a thunderstorm in India amid heavy rains. Among the dead were women and children. The deaths were reported on Sunday (July 11th) amid heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, according to Indian media NDTV.

Besides, 18 people were seriously injured in the lightning strike. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident.

A total of 41 people were killed in a lightning strike in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, the media said. The highest number of deaths occurred in Prayagraj district of the state. 14 people were killed there. Besides, three people were killed in Firozabad district.

Besides, two farmers were working in a field in Nagla Umar village of Shikohabad in the state when they took shelter under a neem tree due to sudden rains. At one point, the two died on the spot when lightning struck a neem tree.

In another village, a farmer named Amar Singh also died. Not only people but also cows and goats have died due to lightning. 42 goats and a cow in the field died due to lightning during the rains.

Meanwhile, Indian media G News reported that at least 20 people were killed in a thunderstorm in the Indian state of Rajasthan on Sunday. Among the dead are 6 children. Eleven people were killed while taking selfies at a Watchtower in the state capital Jaipur. In Madhya Pradesh, seven people were killed in lightning strikes, according to media reports.

Among the dead in Rajasthan, 11 were from Jaipur, four from Kota, three from Dholpur, one from Jhalwar and one from Baran. Twelve people were killed in two consecutive lightning strikes at a Watchtower in Jaipur's Amer area in the space of 40 minutes. They reportedly got up to take selfies there. The injured were rushed to Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur.

Meanwhile, 6 people have been killed in a lightning strike in Madhya Pradesh. Among them are two residents of Sheopur, two residents of Gwalior, one each of Shivpuri, Anuppur and Betul.

Besides expressing grief over the incident, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlaut has announced to pay Tk 5 lakh as compensation to the families of the deceased.

Besides, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences over the incident. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims in a message on social media Twitter.

In a tweet, Modi said, "Many people have lost their lives in lightning strikes in some parts of Rajasthan. It has caused a lot of damage. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims. "
