International Desk: The United States has carried out air strikes in Syria. 5 people were killed in it. Besides, several others were injured. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police recruiting center on the Iraqi border, AFP reported. The Pentagon has also acknowledged the attack.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least five militants had been killed in a US airstrike near the Iraqi border. The dead were pro-Iranian and several others were wounded in the attack.

The U.S. military says a car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, west of Mosul.

The Syrian state news agency SANA reported that one of the dead was a child. At least three people were injured in the airstrikes.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon has acknowledged that airstrikes on Iranian-backed fighters on the Syrian-Iraqi border have been carried out. This is the second US attack on the country since Joe Biden took office in January this year.

The Pentagon said in a statement that the strikes targeted two locations inside Syria and one in Iraq. These attacked areas were used for operational and weapons storage of fighters.

The Pentagon says two Syrian military bases and one Iraqi base were attacked on Monday morning. They also claimed that the militants had weapons stockpiles in those places.

The United States has said that Iranian-backed Hezbollah militants were based on the Syrian border. The attack was carried out with a specific target. Earlier, the Pentagon claimed that the militants had carried out multiple attacks on US bases in Iraq.
