Gold bars weighing 9 kg found on flight at Shahjalal Airport

**News Desk:** Dhaka Customs House has seized 80 gold bars weighing a total of 9 kg from a flight arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The unclaimed consignment of gold bars was seized late Wednesday night (September 2).

In a press release, Customs House stated that around 9:15 pm on Wednesday, Dhaka Customs House officials learned that gold was being smuggled on a Fly Dubai flight (FZ-523) that had arrived at Shahjalal Airport. When they went to search the aircraft, they found it empty of passengers. A subsequent search revealed objects wrapped in black scotch tape under seat 19-A. These were later taken to the customs hall and unwrapped, revealing 80 gold bars. Each bar weighed 116.64 grams, and the total market value of the gold is approximately Tk 20 crore.

Dhaka Customs House said in the release that a criminal case has been filed with Airport Police Station over the incident.
