Sufficient Food Stocks Available in Every District, Says Food Minister

Manikganj Correspondent: Food Minister Afroza Khanam Rita has said that every district in Bangladesh has sufficient food stocks to meet public demand.

She made the remarks on Sunday (August 30) during a surprise inspection of a government food warehouse in Beutha, Manikganj.

The minister said there is no shortage of food in the warehouse and expressed confidence that the government will be able to ensure the proper supply of rice and wheat to the general public.

Speaking about disaster preparedness, she said the government is also working on plans to maintain adequate food reserves so that it can respond effectively to any emergency or natural disaster in the country.

When asked about allegations of a food supply syndicate, the minister said she had taken office only a few days ago and needed time to observe the situation before making any comments.

The inspection was attended by Manikganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Mousumi Nasrin, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Salauddin, District Food Controller Md. Ayub Raihan, and other concerned officials.
