Mirza Fakhrul sends a strong message to opponents: ‘We did not come to power out of nowhere

News Desk: BNP Secretary General and Minister for Local Government Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has issued a stern message to political opponents, saying, “We have not come to power out of nowhere. There is no point in trying to intimidate us. We have carried out a protest for 17 years and have gone to jail.”

He made these remarks on Wednesday (May 20) while speaking as the chief guest at an event held on the premises of Thakurgaon District Council in the afternoon.

The program was organized to distribute cheques for the rehabilitation of families affected by natural disasters, improvement of living standards for physically disabled and trained women, and development of various social and religious institutions.

Mirza Fakhrul stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working tirelessly day and night to maintain a proper democratic and development trajectory in the country and to improve the living standards of ordinary people. He added that the family card system has already been introduced.

Referring to a recently formed new political alliance, the BNP Secretary General said that several political parties have formed an 11-party alliance. They are saying that if laws are not enacted in line with the July Charter, they will create unrest in the country. “We have not come to power out of nowhere. There is no benefit in trying to threaten us,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Mirza Fakhrul visited Thakurgaon Airport. At a discussion meeting held there, he was joined by the Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam Rita, and the State Minister of the same ministry, Rashiduzzaman Millat.

At the meeting, the ministers expressed optimism that Thakurgaon Airport would be operational within the next two years.

After the event, Mirza Fakhrul distributed financial assistance cheques among the beneficiaries.
