All the wrongdoing happening in the country is being done by Jamaat: Dudu

News Desk: BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said that Jamaat uses Islam as a business. “All the wrongdoing taking place in the country is being carried out by Jamaat-e-Islami, but the blame is being shifted onto the BNP-led government.”

He made these remarks on Thursday (May 21) as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and prayer event organized on the occasion of the 18th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Pharmacy Association, held at the Abdus Salam Hall of the Press Club.

He said that the people of the country are fully aware of history and reality. Therefore, public trust cannot be gained through propaganda and misinformation. The main support of the জনগণ now remains with the BNP, and no amount of propaganda will be beneficial.

Shamsuzzaman Dudu stated that although various crimes are being committed in the country, a certain group is trying to place the blame on the current government. By using Islam, they are actually acting against it, and they have no politics other than falsehood.

Strongly criticizing the previous government, the senior BNP leader said that the former administration had been warned in writing five to six times about a measles outbreak, but they failed to act. A disease like measles, which had been eradicated, has returned to the country due to their failure. However, the current government is now treating the matter with utmost urgency.

Praising the role of pharmacists, he said that previously many pharmacies used to close by 7 or 8 pm, but now they are providing service throughout the night out of a sense of national responsibility, which is highly commendable.

Criticizing Jamaat-e-Islami, Dudu said that historically they have never been able to make the right decisions. The people of the country know very well who supported the Liberation War in 1971 and who stood with Pakistan.

Alleging attempts to create instability in universities, he said that educational institutions were previously controlled by a particular group. Now, when efforts are being made to assign responsibilities to genuine academics, a faction is attempting to create unrest.

Referring to BNP’s long struggle, the vice chairman said that BNP has fought against dictatorship for the past 18 years. There is hardly any party member who has not faced cases, imprisonment, or persecution. Even the party chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia, was imprisoned for six years in false cases.

He added that Tarique Rahman lives a very simple life and is running the party with great prudence. Everyone must stand by him and strengthen his hands.

Warning criminals, Dudu said that those who commit wrongdoing are not BNP members. Criminals have no political identity. If anyone uses BNP’s name to engage in crime, they must be handed over to the law immediately. He urged party members to remain vigilant about any wrongdoing occurring around them.

The discussion meeting, chaired by the organization’s president Dr. Md. A. B. Siddiqui Hawlader, was also addressed by BNP Chairperson’s adviser Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, Dhaka North City Corporation administrator Shafiqul Islam, and former general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Saif Mahmud Jewel, among others.
