Pakistan's declaration of war against Afghanistan

International Desk: In the wake of an unexpected rebel attack on a Pakistani military post along the Pak-Afghan border, Pakistan has announced direct war against Afghanistan amid extreme tensions.

Immediately following this announcement on Friday (27 February), a massive Pakistani military operation was launched in the neighboring country, code-named “Operation Gazab-Lil Haq.”

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif officially declared the war via social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In his message, the minister issued a stern warning to the Taliban government, stating that Pakistan’s patience has run out. “Though we have exercised restraint until now, that opportunity is over. From this moment onward, we will have only war with you,” he said.

Just hours after the minister’s announcement, the Pakistani Air Force entered Afghan airspace with full force. Large-scale airstrikes began, primarily targeting key Afghan military installations and bases.

International media reports confirmed that Pakistan’s airstrikes were carried out extensively in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, as well as in the strategically important provinces of Paktia and Kandahar.

Under “Operation Gazab-Lil Haq,” several Afghan military facilities, command posts, and ammunition depots have been destroyed. Pakistani military sources claimed that this special operation was launched to deliver an appropriate response to provocative attacks on Pakistan’s security forces in the border region, and it will continue until its objectives are fully achieved.
