The holy month of Ramadan will begin in Malaysia on Thursday

News Desk: Muslims in Malaysia will begin observing the holy month of Ramadan from Thursday (February 19). The announcement was made tonight by Keeper of the Royal Seal, Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.
In a live broadcast on national television, he stated that the start date of Ramadan was determined after efforts to sight the new moon in various locations across the country. This year, religious officials gathered at 29 locations nationwide to sight the crescent moon for the commencement of fasting.
He further added that the date has been set for all states in Malaysia through a decree by the country’s highest head of state, King Sultan Ibrahim. The final decision was announced after obtaining the consent of the Malaysian rulers.
With this, Malaysia’s Muslim community has begun preparations to welcome the sacred month of Ramadan, a period devoted to fasting and spiritual devotion.
