Gang rape at MC College: Charge sheet filed today

News Desk: Police are going to file a chargesheet in the court after more than two months have passed since the housewife gang-rape case in front of her husband at the MC College dormitory in Sylhet.

The chargesheet will be filed in court on Thursday. The investigating officer of the case, Shahparan Police Station (OC Investigation) Inspector Indranil Bhattacharya will submit it. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police BM Ashraf Ullah Taher confirmed the matter on Wednesday (December 2nd).

Saifur Rahman, Tarekul Islam Tarek, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Arjun Laskar, Rabiul Islam, Maifuzur Rahman Masum, Rajan and Ainul are in jail in the case of gang-raping the wife while she was being held at the MC College dormitory in Sylhet.

Earlier, on November 29, two months later, the DNA report of the accused was released. It was reported that there was a involvement in the rape.

On September 25, at around 8:15 pm, some BCL leaders and activists gang-raped a housewife in a private car on the street inside the dormitory of Sylhet MC College. On the same night, the husband of the victim filed a case with the Shahparan (Rah.) Police Station accusing 6 people of the incident.

In this case 2-3 more people were made unknown accused. Police and RAB arrested eight people, including six accused, from different areas of Sylhet region within 72 hours. On October 1 and 3, DNA samples of eight accused were collected and sent to a lab in Dhaka. The DNA test report reached the investigating officer last Sunday.

According to the police, the submission of the chargesheet was delayed due to non-receipt of DNA test report of the accused in the case. The report was received by the investigating police last Sunday.
