Mask manipulation: 4 companies in the capital fined one lakh rupees

News Desk: The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined 4 companies in the capital Tk 1 lakh for manipulating masks. These companies were fined in a day-long operation on Tuesday (December 1).

A press release issued by the department said that during the operation, it was monitored whether potatoes, rice, onions, soybean oil, ginger and other daily necessities including masks were being sold at reasonable prices.

In addition, fines of Tk 450,000 were levied on 61 companies across the country for non-disclosure of price list, mismatch of sales receipts with price list, non-preservation of purchase receipts, expired drugs and products, counterfeit products, weight fraud and other offenses against consumer interests. Done.

During the campaign, traders were warned not to manipulate the prices of masks, rice, potatoes and onions and to display compulsory purchase receipts and price lists.

The operation was carried out in different pharmacies in Dhanmondi, Kalabagan and Shahbag areas of Dhaka metropolis with the power given by the director general of the directorate. Masum Arefin and Dhaka District and Divisional Office Assistant Directors Abdul Jabbar Mandal and Magfur Rahman.

Besides, it conducts supervision and awareness activities in different markets under the leadership of the Deputy Director of the Divisional Office and the Assistant Director of the District Office outside Dhaka.

In this regard, the Director General of the Department Bablu Kumar Saha said, the Department always applauds all the businessmen who conduct business in a systematic and ethical manner. He appealed to the traders to build an orderly market system that is consumer and business friendly.

Besides, the director general of the consumer department requested all concerned to buy and sell products after wearing masks.
