The time for filing income tax returns has increased by one month

News Desk: The deadline for filing income tax and returns has been extended. Today is the last day to submit, but one more month has been extended. NBR chairman Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Munim confirmed the matter at noon on Monday (November 30).

He said the time limit for filing income tax returns has been extended till December 31 (one month) at the request of all parties, including individual taxpayers, businessmen and income tax lawyers.

Earlier on Sunday (November 29), the NBR chairman had said that the deadline for filing returns was not being extended as there were no obstacles. He also said that the fine was not mandatory at that time.

The chairman said the issue of fines has been kept flexible. An application for extension of time can be made after November 30, but waiver of penalty is not mandatory, the tax commissioner can waive it if he wants.

He said 1.5 million returns had been submitted till yesterday (November 29). 70,000 more returns have been submitted than last year. He also said that the amount of black money that has turned white in the current financial year will be known after November 30.
