New history has been created in tax collection: Prime Minister

News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the unprecedented response of the taxpayers has created a new history in tax collection. He made the remarks in a message on the occasion of National Income Tax Day on Monday (November 30).

Sheikh Hasina said, "I am happy to know that 'National Income Tax Day-2020' is being celebrated on November 30 at the initiative of the National Board of Revenue." On the occasion of the day, I extend my best wishes to all the esteemed taxpayers of the country and all those associated with the Income Tax Department.

The theme of this year's National Income Tax Day is 'Ensuring a Taxpayer-Friendly Environment by Providing Transparent and Modern Taxes'.

The Prime Minister said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the National Board of Revenue in 1972. The Board has been working tirelessly to ensure successful business and investment-friendly environment as well as enrich the state's revenue and successfully implement the government's development programs. With the aim of building a revenue-friendly culture in the country, the touch of various innovative programs of this organization has spread from the national level to the village level.

He said that although the income tax fair was not held this year due to the epidemic caused by Kovid-19, the unprecedented response of taxpayers in the tax zones has created a new history in tax collection. In order to encourage the payment of income tax, according to the 'National Tax Card Policy, 2010 (Revised)', 141 taxpayers are being given tax cards and 525 highest and long term taxpayers across the country are being honored.

Sheikh Hasina said the National Board of Revenue is playing an effective role in the implementation of the government's Vision-2021 and Vision-2041 through revenue collection. In the hope of building the golden Bangladesh of Bangabandhu's dream, I call upon all to perform their duties with concentration and devotion in the year of Mujib.
