Golden Monir handed over to police in three cases

News Desk: Monir Hossain alias 'Golden Monir' arrested with drugs, weapons and crores of rupees has been handed over to Badda Police Station. After handing over Monir to the police station on Sunday morning, three cases were also filed by the RAB. Badda Police Station OC Parvez Islam confirmed the information.

He said the cases were filed under the Narcotics, Weapons and Special Powers Act. Based on the information provided by an intelligence agency, RAB raided Monir's house in Merul Baddar DIT project on Friday night. The raid on the six-storey house started at midnight on Friday and continued till Saturday morning.

During the operation, 1 crore 9 lakh taka, 4 liters of liquor, 6 kg gold, a foreign pistol and a few rounds of ammunition were recovered from Monir's house. Besides weapons and alcohol, RAB also seized foreign currency from 10 countries worth Tk 9 lakh.

RAB officials said five vehicles were found at Monir's house, three of which were confiscated as they did not have valid documents. According to RAB, Monir has assets worth over Tk 1,050 crore. Besides, Monir has more than two hundred unnamed plots in Badda, Niketan, Keraniganj, Uttara and Nikunj.

There is a case of land robbery by forging the seal of RAJUK and a case of ACC against Monir. RAB officials have also hinted that he is a 'financier' of a political party.
